Thankful
It's a good thing the world sleeps because we would just keep on going and going. I worked a 16 hour day today, and the only thing that has stopped me from moving in on hour number 17 is that it's bedtime. The coffee shops close, the people you need to reach are asleep, the heat turns down, and my eye starts to twitch. The past three days have been madness and chaos. But the crisis and excitment of it all keeps me energized.
So many people on this earth are suffering. I can't even pretend to understand what it's like to live outside of the world's wealthiest nation. All I feel are tinges of pain when I choose to really see injustice for what it is. God calls us to so much. This life is not my own. I can't complain because everything I have is a gift. Every day is an outpouring of God's grace to let me live one more day, and try to glorify Him in my work.
I give my hopes and dreams and fears and hesitations to God. I will faithfully seek justice in my dealings and activities. I will remember the faces of those we are trying to help. I will choose to trust God as things will progressively get more difficult. And I will continue to thank my God for the opportunity to live and serve and love, no matter how difficult it may be.
